CLC GIRLS CELEBRATE A LEVEL RESULTS

18 Aug 2016

Girls at Cheltenham Ladies’ College are celebrating excellent A Level results today, with a total of 62 girls achieving three or more A* or A grades (50% of all those sitting A Levels).

In addition to the 124 girls who sat A Levels, 36 pupils received outstanding International Baccalaureate (IB) results in July, with an average points score of 40.0, which carries a UCAS tariff equivalent to A*A*A*A.

Many pupils have secured places and scholarships at leading UK and US universities to study a range of courses, including Chemical Engineering and Law at Cambridge, and PPE, French and Psychology and Philosophy at Oxford, as well as securing places at Berkeley, New York University (NYU) and Minerva in the US.

Exceptional individual achievements will be enabling CLC students to pursue their higher education goals, including Nina Banbury (Courtauld Institute), Georgiana Gilgallon-Scoular (Philosophy at Cambridge), Lucinda Kirk (Languages at Oxford), Isabella Sheridan (International Relations at St Andrews), and Alice Pringle (Mechanical Engineering at Bristol).

Xara Davies has secured a prestigious Jefferson Scholarship at the University of Virginia, which provides a full financial support worth over £250,000. Exceptionally, Eleanor Wang scored full marks for individual Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics components as she achieved 4 A*s in her A Levels in addition to an A* in the Extended Project Qualification. Eleanor will now go on to read Medicine at Cambridge.

Eve Jardine-Young, Principal of Cheltenham Ladies’ College, said: “We are extremely proud of all the girls and staff, whose hard work and inspiration has enabled such wonderful results.”
