Top Suffolk School Rugby Player on track for National Selection

22 Jan 2015

Year 13 pupil at the Royal Hospital School, Toby Eaton, has been selected to play for the Independent Schools Lambs RFC U18 Northern Squad. Toby, who has been playing for the Lambs Midlands for the last year along with RHS 1st XV captain George Butt, is one of only two players selected from East Anglia after the Midland v North Lambs game on Sunday 4 January.

Toby will now play for the Northern Lambs against Yorkshire Carnegie this weekend before playing in the Northern Lambs v Southern Lambs game on 18 January for potential selection into the Lambs National Squad. If selected for the National XV, Toby would play in a series of National XV fixtures against London and SE Division, Saracens Academy, the Irish Exiles and the Crawshays Welsh. This would be followed by a tour to the west coast of the USA on a four match trip culminating in a game against The Eagles U18s (the USA U18 National side). This is not the first time that Toby has represented the Lambs, Toby gained a place in the Lambs U13 and U14 National XVs and was part of the team that toured to Biarritz and won the Trophee Jean Rummeau, an international U14 rugby tournament held in France.

Richard Chadwick, Head of Rugby at the Royal Hospital School, said “This is clearly a fantastic opportunity for Toby and we wish him all the best. Toby has been an integral part in the 1st XV’s most successful season for 7 years. This will be a real test for Toby, which I am sure he will rise to. Well done must also go to 1st XV captain, George Butt, who also played in the game for the Midlands but was unfortunate not to get through to the North XV. George performed to his usual high standards but faced a tough competition.”
