The Freshwater Theatre Company dramatically introduced Bishop’s Stortford College’s Prep School to Miguel de Cervantes’ don Quijote de la Mancha, the self-pronounced knight errant and defender of chivalry, who sallies forth to battle giants, vanquish enchanters and save damsels in distress – or so he believes! Upper Third pupils took on the main roles to tell the story in a fast-paced and dynamic session under Freshwater’s direction.

English and Spanish were woven seamlessly together in this unique adaptation ensuring pupils could follow the action, remain engaged and develop their linguistic skills. As well as being part of the play, pupils have been studying the history of the book, the life of the author and considering related tourist attractions that still bring visitors to the area centuries later. Pupils had a stimulating and fun afternoon.
