Christ College Brecon – Singer of the Year 2019

12 Jun 2019

The annual search for the Christ College Singer of the Year took place on Monday 25th March in the Chapel. The Intermediate round in the afternoon was adjudicated by Lis Priday & Delyth Taylor, and the Advanced round in the evening was adjudicated by Catherine Perfect, a professional singer and teacher firmly established in the Gloucestershire area.

Abbott Sze (Year 10) won the Intermediate Round for his performance of The Swallow arr. Barratt, and in the Advanced class, Catherine Perfect chose Alfie Jones (Year 11) as the clear winner, for his performance of If I Were A Rich Man by Bock and Time To Say Goodbye by Sartori.

The runner up in the Intermediate round was Jasmine Anderson (Year 10) for her performance of How Could I Ever Know by Simon & Norman. In the Advanced round, Eleanor Williams (Year 10) was chosen as runner up for her performance of Come Again by Dowland and The Singer by Head.

We are most grateful to Creative Risk Solutions for their generous sponsorship of this competition each year. The winner of the competition, Alfie Jones, was presented with The Dargavel Trophy, a magnificent prancing horse which is named after the late Tom Dargavel, who did so much to support the Creative Arts here at Christ College.
