    One of the  oldest schools in Wales, founded by King Henry VIII in 1541, Christ College Brecon provides an inspiring curriculum focused on character development within some of the UK’s most beautiful and energising landscapes of the Brecon Beacons National Park. Pupils here  ‘suck the marrow’ out of their time at school and  experience a wide range of learning experiences inside and outside the classroom. They are encouraged to work hard , try new things and also play their part in the school’s small, close knit community.

    The school occupies an enviable site of 39 acres on the outskirts of Brecon. This is a safe, small market town within an outstanding area of natural beauty and with the famous Brecon Beacons and Black Mountains close by.

    Facilities

    Sport – Indoors:  fitness suite, squash courts , sports Hall (for badminton, volleyball, five-a-side football and a climbing wall), indoor winter cricket nets and  15m swimming pool.  Outdoors: facilities in the 40 acres of ground includes five rugby pitches, three cricket squares, four hard court tennis courts, three netball courts and a further nine tennis courts and three netball courts available on the Astroturf, plus three artificial cricket nets and five grass.

    Performing Arts – a multi purpose  300 seater space used for school productions and concerts,  equipped with modern technology to professionalise the events.

    Creative Arts – artists are based  in our beautiful ‘listed’ art building overlooking the river Usk. Photography pupils can take advantage of two fully equipped and specially adapted studios, a dark room and IT room equipped with Apple Mac equipment.

    Entrance Requirements

    • We accept pupils to our junior school between the ages of 4 – 11 years. Please see the Prep page for details.
    • Pupils enter the senior school aged 11, 13 or 16. Sometimes boys and girls are admitted at other stages in their education.
    • Candidates entering at 11 and 13 are expected to take entrance tests in Mathematics, English and an IQ test. A school report is requested.
    • Candidates entering at 16 are expected to gain 6 GCSEs at level 5 (grade C) or better. Pupils should ideally have at least a level 6 (grade B) in GCSE in the subjects they wish to take at A Level. A report from the previous school is also requested.

    Prep School Boarding.  Years 5 and 6: From £6329 per term.

    Senior School Day. Years 7-11:  From £6139 per term. Sixth Form: £7335 per term.

    Senior School Full Boarding. Years 7-11: From £9162 per term. Sixth Form: From £12,095 per term.

    Weekly and Flexi Boarding are available.
