Bromsgrove Musician Chosen to Represent Hereford and Worcester with the National Scout and Guide Symphony Orchestra

A talented musician from Bromsgrove School has been selected to represent Hereford and Worcester at a week-long residential with the National Scout and Guide Symphony Orchestra. The orchestra, consisting of eighty young people aged 13-26 from all corners of Britain, has been preparing for two nights of concerts at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.

Eleanor Boardman is an oboe scholar, currently working towards Grade 6, having played for just over three years, and is working towards Grade 7 on the recorder. Eleanor who has just finished Year 8 of Bromsgrove Preparatory School was Deputy Head Chorister in the School’s Chapel Choir, as well as a key member of the orchestra, jazz band and Prep choir. In addition, she plays with the English Symphony Orchestra youth during school holidays.

The concerts which were held on 3rd and 4th August included a programme of Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 5 in D minor, a trio of Strauss numbers and Tunes from the Trenches to mark the centenary of WW1.

Eleanor is one of the youngest members of the NSGSO, is proud to have represented Hereford and Worcester and has really enjoyed this exciting, musical experience.
