14 Dec 2018

In 2014, Bromsgrove School planted a sapling of a hornbeam tree taken from the fields of the Somme, in its grounds.

During Remembrance Week, Ms Denise Mickle, Chair of the Parents’ Association unveiled a plaque to commemorate this important addition to the School.

James Bateman is pictured with Ms Mickle and Ms Adams, Teacher of English and Houseparent of Oakley House. James’ winning poem was awarded the prize by the National Arboretum.

Ms Adams said, “The plaque is a significant and permanent addition to Bromsgrove School’s World War One legacy. It is important that pupils today and in the future can be part of such ongoing acts of Remembrance so that the enormous sacrifice of a generation is never forgotten.”
