Bromsgrove U16 Girls Tennis team in top ten in the Country

14 Dec 2018

Congratulations to Bromsgrove School’s U16 Girls tennis team who have finished as runners up in the Regional Final of the National Schools’ Competition.

The team beat a strong Moreton Hall side 4 sets to 2 in the Semi-Final, before losing to Leicester Grammar School in the Final.  This puts the team in the top ten School teams in the country for their age group.   It is the first time in recent history that a Bromsgrove School team has reached the Regional Finals and to finish as runners up is a fantastic achievement.

In a tournament during the summer, the team beat King’s School Worcester, Malvern College and Malvern St James. This meant that they progressed through to the knock-out stage of the tournament and went on to beat Solihull and Northampton School to reach the Finals.

Commenting on their success, Mrs Sally Franks, tennis coach said “They are a fantastic group of players, who all train with commitment throughout the winter months and we are thrilled that they have done so well against the best young players in the country.”
