Faraday School – Workshop for Local Parents and Carers

20 Mar 2019

Faraday School are excited to have adopted a whole-school Growth Mindset approach this year.

In this vein, we held a workshop for local parents and carers, so that they can support their children to adopt a ‘I can do it’ attitude.

The workshop is run by parenting coach Nadim Saad, who is the author of a number of books on the subject.

The focus was primarily on the Early Years, although the subject matter is relevant to all ages.

What is Growth Mindset?

The terms fixed mindset and growth mindset describe the underlying beliefs people have about learning and intelligence. Children with a growth mindset believe that their brain can grow through practice and effort, and they therefore put in extra time and effort, and that leads to higher achievement. Research proves that we can change a person’s mindset from fixed to growth, and when we do, it leads to increased motivation and achievement.
