Millfield Prep – Year 7 pupils took part in an India themed cross curricular day.

23 May 2018

The highlight of the day was when four pupils shared their stories about their lives in India. They taught other pupils some Hindi and left their mark in the form of a henna tattoo!

Year 7 enjoyed a huge range of activities and workshops throughout the day. They produced some fantastic batik silk paintings and learned how to use hot wax and inks to respond to the inspirational pattern and colour on display. They also had great fun learning to Bollywood dance.

Our World Book Day storyteller mesmerised the pupils with a great tale of the Mahabharata and our visiting world music expert from Bristol, amazed them with the range of incredible musical instruments from India. Some were lucky enough to have a yoga session, while others rolled and tasted chapattis.

‘It was very colourful and released the inner creative in me. It was a new and fun experience. I splashed loads of ink all over my silk but it still turned out ok!’ – Year 7 pupil
