SIXTH FORM POLITICS TRIP TO WASHINGTON, DC – Tormead School

22 Jan 2019

In early January a combined group of Upper and Lower Sixth girls visited Washington, DC.  Despite the partial federal shutdown, the group had tours of Congress, the Supreme Court and the Pentagon, providing them with a captivating insight into the world of US politics.

They also spent a beautiful afternoon in the sunshine visiting  Arlington Cemetery, as well as the Lincoln and Vietnam memorials.

Everyone agreed that the visit to the Newseum was particularly fascinating and memorable, as it contains sections of the Berlin wall, the antenna from one of the towers that fell on 9/11 and an exhibition of Pulitzer Prize winning photographs documenting human triumph and tragedy.
