Wellington School Pupils Celebrate GCSE Success

23 Aug 2019

Wellington School pupils are celebrating another impressive set of GCSE results with almost half of all grades being awarded at 9-7 (A* – A).

A remarkable 29% of the grades achieved were at the top 9-8 grade (A*) and there has been a notable rise in the number of pupils achieving the coveted grade 9 across a wide range of subjects.

New Headmaster, Eugene du Toit, said, ‘I am delighted with this very pleasing set of results. Our pupils have worked extremely hard and their efforts have been justly rewarded. These results also reflect the dedication and expertise of our hugely committed teachers, who always go the extra mile in supporting our girls and boys. I am very grateful to our pupils’ parents for their support and encouragement during the exam period’

‘Learning, in its many forms, is at the heart of all we do at Wellington’ adds Mr du Toit. ‘We want our girls and boys to be ambitious but we don’t want them to fear failure as they engage with the world around them. While helping each pupil achieve their best possible academic results, we want boys and girls to develop the skills they need to become critical thinkers who can work collaboratively to find creative solutions to challenging problems.’

Wellington School provides an outstanding all-round education and seeks to produce young adults who are equipped to thrive in an increasingly complex world.
