Wycliffe wins award for ‘design, sustainability and innovation’

On 2nd May 2018, representatives from the top boarding schools across the UK gathered in Brighton for the Boarding Schools’ Association Awards. Head of College Nick Gregory waited with bated breath to hear the outcome of the ‘Boarding Extension or Refurbishment Award’, for which our new Ward’s-Ivy Grove boarding house was a nominee.
The award recognises ‘design, sustainability and innovation’, and we were thrilled to hear that the Ward’s-Ivy Grove building had won amidst some other very good entries.
Wycliffe’s Head of College, Nick Gregory, puts into words his thoughts on the new building and this fabulous award for the school –
The new Ward’s-Ivy Grove building (opened in September 2017) brings together a boys’ House (Ward’s) and a girls’ House (Ivy Grove) into the one single building and is a significant ‘statement’ about the central importance into the future of Boarding as part of Wycliffe as a school. One of the most significant features of the building is that it develops and expands the possibility of greater Flexi Boarding, supporting busy families, allowing the benefits of a Boarding education/experience to be extended to Day pupils and expanding Wycliffe’s catchment area across the whole county (and indeed into surrounding counties). This very prestigious award from the Boarding Schools’ Association focused on three areas (Design; Sustainability; Innovation) and we are absolutely thrilled that, out of 500+ Boarding Schools across the land, we scored so highly in all three categories that the Ward’s-Ivy Grove building has been recognised in this way.
We hope that all of our boarders currently living in the building feel an immense sense of pride that their home has gained such fantastic recognition, and we endeavour to continue to be a boarding school that invests in the quality of life and well-being of its boarders as a priority.
