Richard Pleming is the new Headmaster of Wrekin College. A former Canterbury Cathedral chorister, Richard was educated at The King’s School, Canterbury, where he was Captain of School, and at Pembroke College, Cambridge, where he gained a first class degree in English. Before he moved into teaching in 1990, he spent a year working for Scottish Opera and then five years in corporate finance and venture capital at Schroders and 3i. He previously taught at Eton College and St Paul’s School in London before becoming a Housemaster at St Edward’s in Oxford.
On taking up his appointment, he said: “It’s a real privilege to be given the opportunity to lead Wrekin’s vibrant and dynamic learning community.
“Wrekin College is renowned for its outstanding pupils and facilities. I am looking forward to leading Wrekin through the exciting times ahead as we continue to build on our considerable reputation for getting the very best out of our pupils academically, while holding on firmly the importance of a balanced education of the whole person.”
