National Rackets Champions – Wellington Pupils Make History

20 Jan 2017

Three Wellington pupils claim national rackets titles.

Huge congratulations to Fourth Formers Lauren Gooding and Issie Thorneycroft who have re-written the record books by becoming the first ever girls in the history of Wellington College to win a national Rackets title at Queen’s in London claiming the U16 doubles crown despite both being U15 players.

Not to be outdone, Freddie Bristowe has also taken top spot in the U15 singles competition winning 15/7, 15/5 in the final against Eton. Losing finalist last year, Freddie became US Junior Real Tennis Champion back in the summer and now has a National Rackets title to add to his trophy cabinet.

Huge congratulations to all three pupils and also to Mr Ryan Tulley, Master in Charge – what a way to celebrate becoming a father!
