Next steps for Millfield Upper Sixth cohort

After another unique year for exam-aged students, Millfield’s Upper Sixth embark on exciting journeys, in academia, sport, music and the arts, in the UK and overseas.

Millfield students have displayed exceptional resilience and determination to be rewarded with excellent results.

The majority of students have accepted offers to continue their studies both in the UK and overseas and we have featured some below:

Cameron Pike has a 100% scholarship (academic and sporting) from Clayton State University, Georgia. Somerset boy Cameron joined Millfield for Sixth Form studying BTEC Sport and was the first team goalkeeper. In 2019, he was selected for the English Schools Football Association (ESFA) National U18 side.

Yuhka Machino is heading to Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) to read mathematics having also had an offer from Cambridge. She is currently ranked the world’s top school-age female mathematician for the second year running after competing in the International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO). Yuhka joined Millfield Prep School in Year 6 and studied A level maths, chemistry and physics. She has been a valued member of the maths, badminton, swimming and music communities, as a grade 8 pianist, during her time at Millfield.

Keen tennis player Alex Knox-Jones has been awarded a place at the prestigious, Ivy League University, Dartmouth College. He will combine academics with his tennis where he will compete in division one of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). He studied A level maths, chemistry and physics.
