18 Aug 2025
On Thursday 14 August, The Leys celebrated another exceptional year of A Level results, with the 2025 cohort of Year 13 pupils continuing the School’s tradition of academic excellence.
This year, an impressive 22.8% of all grades were A*, 61.1% were A-A*, and 85.1% were graded A*-B, reflecting the consistently high standards achieved by Leysians year after year.
Notably, 70.3% of pupils attained at least ABB, the highest proportion on record, highlighting the strength of individual outcomes. The overwhelming majority – 83% – secured the grades required for their first-choice university destinations, reinforcing The Leys’ reputation for academic success following its best-ever results in 2024.
Top performers include Diogo KFS, Thomas H-J, David L, Sam W, Daisy H and Kyle Y, all of whom gained all A* grades, and Dominic S who achieved three A* grades and an A. Congratulations to Daisy H and Dominic S who will take up their places at Oxford University to read Chemistry and Engineering, respectively.
The Leys was also delighted to receive notification from the OCR examination board that Freya C has been singled out as one of the top performing students in the country in A Level Art and Design. Many congratulations to Freya and to the Art Department for this impressive achievement, which adds further weight to the School’s reputation as a centre of artistic excellence.
Head at The Leys, Martin Priestley, commented: “I am thrilled to congratulate the Upper Sixth cohort of 2025 on this superb set of A Level results. Their dedication, resilience and intellectual curiosity have been evident throughout their time at The Leys, and these results are a fitting reward for their efforts.
“I would also like to pay tribute to my colleagues on the teaching and support staff, whose commitment and expertise have played a vital role in helping our pupils achieve these outcomes. My warmest congratulations to the Class of 2025 and my sincere thanks to everyone who has supported them on this journey.
“My very best wishes also to my successor, Dr Clare Ives who, in our 150th year, takes over as the 11th Head of The Leys. The School is in great hands, and I wish her and the entire Leysian community every success in the future.”
