Bishop’s Stortford College U14’s play in the National Hockey Finals
22 May 2015
On Tuesday 21st April, Bishop’s Stortford College’s U14 Hockey team came 4th at the National Hockey Finals held at the Lee Valley Tennis & Hockey Centre at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
The team were drawn in a difficult group which contained the College (East Champions), Repton School (Midlands Champions), Altrincham Grammar School (North Champions) and Whitgift School (South Runners Up).
The boys won the first two matches: 2-1 V Whitgift School and 3-1 V Altrincham Grammar School. The team then lost 0-1 to Repton School who went on to win the Final. They then played Reed’s School in 3rd/4th playoff, losing 1-3 and coming 4th overall.
The College is extremely pleased to have come 4th at the National Finals. This is a wonderful achievement for Captain Edward Patton and the rest of the team, many of whom currently represent the County at hockey. The College hopes they continue to develop their skills long into the future.
Jamie Brooks had a fantastic tournament and was named top goal scorer (scoring 5 goals). With such fierce competition, this is a fabulous accolade. He is pictured here beating the Whitgift School keeper in a great move.
