Demolition and Development at Belmont School

21 Sep 2021

The summer has been busy at Belmont School with the demolition of the Head’s House in readiness for the construction of the Aquileon Building. The building will form the hub for the growing Senior School and will provide six new classrooms, two double height Art Studios, an ICT suite, Photography Department, Performing Arts studio for Drama, Dance and Performing Arts, a Wellbeing Centre and Tutorial Rooms.   A new Head’s House will be built in a different location on the Belmont estate.

In August, Moon Hall School consolidated all of their operations onto their Reigate site releasing much needed space at Belmont and leading to the opening of The Grove in September.  Designated as a base for the Prep School pupils, The Grove is home to six classes of Years 3 to 5 pupils as well as a Junior Library, Junior ICT room, Outdoor Activities’ office, and other administration areas including a meeting space.

Mrs Skrine, Headmistress of Belmont School has been busy, “We have not been resting on our laurels during the national pandemic, and instead we have been able to invest in Belmont’s future, by extending our staff team and enhancing our site.  It is an exciting time to be a pupil at Belmont School as the School is expanding rapidly both in size and age range, so that in 2023, the first Year 11 pupils will sit their GCSEs.”

Founded in 1880, Belmont School is nestled in the Surrey Hills on its own private estate in Holmbury St Mary and is an independent school for boys and girls from Early Years to GCSE.   To find out more, please visit www.belmont-school.org, where a virtual tour of the School can also be taken.
