Newland College – Exploring The Great Outdoors, It’s Good to (Walk and) Talk!
21 Jan 2016
It’s definitely been a muddy month, but just in time for our Agora (holistic learning) session this morning, the rain cleared and a watery sun made a welcome appearance.
Our students enjoyed a walk around the Newland Park estate and nearby woods (wellies essential) and we were encouraged by Mr Parkin, who led the session, to get talking.
Talking and walking has a number of benefits. There’s the purposeful physical action of moving somewhere, which helps conversation to flow, but also if you’re walking side by side with someone you don’t have to make eye contact with them and therefore it’s often easier to open up and chat about deeper issues.
