    What is 4 + 1

    St Edmund’s School Canterbury

St Edmund’s today is a dynamic co-educational 3-18 day and boarding school.

Our pupils benefit from a caring and supportive environment, high-calibre teaching and a holistic educational approach that seeks to develop creativity, leadership qualities and original thinking.

A broad academic curriculum and extraordinarily diverse co-curricular programme enable pupils to find their path and grow to ‘be all they can be’.

Our small class sizes enable the personalisation of learning so that pupils receive the attention and academic challenge they need to excel.

Every pupil here is known and understood.

The fact that we educate children from the age of 3 to 18 underpins the strong family atmosphere and sense of community that pervade the school.

    Facilities

St Edmund’s School Canterbury houses a marvelous Performing Arts department. The facilities that come with it are second to none, including a newly refurbished 340 seat theatre, a recital hall, practice rooms and chapel.

The Sports Hall, is well equipped, with markings for 4 badminton courts, 2 netball courts, and a basketball court. Outside there is a floodlit astro pitch, 4 grass pitches and outside courts.

We offer one of the widest and most varied co-curricular programmes in Kent. Pupils can choose anything from horse riding to chess, mindfulness to debating, ground-breaking drama and outstanding musical activities, and some exceptional sporting opportunities. Our programme is flexible and constantly evolving to reflect pupils’ interests and passions, with new clubs and societies starting each term at the request of pupils, and going on to thrive.

In addition, all pupils enjoy outdoor education and work experience weeks. Many are active on schemes such as Duke of Edinburgh and the Combined Cadet Force for their entire time with us. All pupils are encouraged to engage with the surrounding community, understand and develop skills for working together, and appreciate the importance of serving others.

The School boasts an eclectic mix of different quality venues and facilities available to hire throughout the year. Included within the portfolio are the astro pitch,  theatre, a private boardroom and a stunning wedding venue, licensed for civil ceremonies.
