Six Millfield students scored in the top 4% of all results globally in the College Board SAT in October. The SAT is a US university admissions examination that is taken by a large number of candidatesacross the globe each year.

Upper Sixth student Julien Ho achieved an SAT score of 1540/1600 which placed him in the 99th nationally representative percentile of all candidates globally. This result is Millfield’s highest SAT result to date.

Sixth Formers Colin Woodley, George Woodley, Hassan Elsheikh, Ian Lauritzen and Zefei Wu all achieved SAT scores ranging from 1450/1600 – 1390/1600, which placed them in the 97th -99th nationally representative percentiles of all candidates globally.

Overall, thirty-two Millfield students took the October SAT, with 50% of students placing in the 80th -100th nationally representative percentiles.

Three Millfield students Jimmy Cheng, Jake Hurst and Head Girl Diketso Karas also took the SAT subject Tests – which are additional tests for top academics wishing to go to top American universities – in Chemistry, English Literature, French and Mathematics Level 2 and Physics. The students achieved exceptional marks, with Jimmy and Diketso achieving full marks in the Mathematics Level 2 test.

Millfield provides specialist guidance for applications to North American universities and employs a Tutor in charge of North American University Applications (Mrs Linda Nixon), a Tutor in charge of the Millfield SAT Programme (Mrs Ruth Landrigan), and a Virginian Fellow. Millfield is also an SAT test center, which means that our students do not need to leave the school campus to take the SAT.

Last year, twenty-one Millfield students achieved places at universities and colleges in North America, including Dartmouth College, Syracuse and Duke University.

Millfield Headmaster Gavin Horgan says, “These SAT results showcase Millfield’s fantastic academic offer, particularly for students interested in studying internationally. To have students who achieve these scores is a testament to our students’ commitment to their studies, both in UK examinations and further afield. Well done to them all!”
