New Pre-School classroom for September 2021 – Abbot’s Hill SChool

28 Apr 2021

We are very pleased to announce the launch of a Pre-School class from September 2021.

Our Nursery and Pre-School provide a secure and relaxed environment in which children begin their school life. Alongside our outstanding co-ed Day Nursery, our new Pre-School class will provide the foundation for your daughter’s future learning. Just as in the Day Nursery,  the new Pre-School class will foster a happy, family atmosphere and promote an holistic, balanced education.

In the Pre-sShool, children develop good relationships, self-confidence, independence, and become inquisitive learners through play. Our qualified teachers also deliver the Read, Write Inc. programme and structured number activities while P.E., Gymnastics and oral French are delivered by subject specialists from the Prep school. Set in our 76 acres of parkland and woods, our Woodland School is a key part of our offer too. Friendships start here: outdoor education provides a solid base for your child’s emotional security as they play and explore.

Our Pre-School class will  be for girls only the year before they join Reception. From September 2021, your daughter will be able to join us up to five mornings per week from 8.15am to 12.15pm, including lunch.

Our Head of Pre-Prep, Mrs Jo Wallace is very pleased to welcome your daughter:

As Head of Pre-Prep, I believe Early Years Education for children is key to their future development. Early exposure to activities which develop a young child’s communication, social skills and physical development mean that they feel confident, ready for a challenge and are comfortable operating in the Reception environment when they start school.

In the pre-school at Abbot’s Hill, children will increasingly:

  • Be confident communicators, able to express themselves
  • Be independent in making decisions about what they want to do
  • Be able to manage their belongings such as their jumper, coat and bag
  • Be able to talk to other children and negotiate with them
  • Be interested in and curious about the world around them
  • Be keen readers with a love of stories

If you are interested in learning more and being one of the first to register your interest, please join our Pre-Prep Stay and Play event on 26 May here.

If you have any questions, please contact Miss Cooper, our Registrar, for more information.
