Two accomplished Old Millfieldians have received knighthoods in this year’s Queen’s Birthday Honours.

Sir Gareth Edwards, former Wales scrum-half and arguably one of the greatest all-round players in the history of rugby union, was knighted for his services to sport and for charitable services.

Fellow OM, Chartered Scientist and Engineer Adrian White, established ‘Biwater Treatment’ in 1968 at the age of 25 and remains committed to the industry 45 years on as Chairman of the Biwater Group.

The Former Chairman of Governors and life-long president of the Millfield Foundation said: “I am truly honoured by this award and its recognition of both personal and professional contributions that have furthered Britain’s trade and investment successes across the globe in recent years. All of my experiences, including my time as a Millfield parent and Chairman of the Board of Governors, have positively shaped my global outlook and business acumen.”
