West Buckland are delighted to be running a joint initiative with North Devon Healthcare Trust to host an afternoon of mock medical interviews for students across Devon who are looking to pursue a medical career.

Students from QE Crediton, Bideford College, Ilfracombe Academy, Pilton Community School and Mount Kelly will be taking part in a series of interviews, carried out by medical staff from North Devon District Hospital. They will be honing skills that will help them in their applications for jobs ranging from medicine to physiotherapy and veterinary science. Interviews are part of the selection process for gaining entry on to any medical course.

The project is part of a wider outreach programme, run by West Buckland, working in partnership with schools in the region to ensure students prepare fully for their higher education, such as Oxbridge workshops and academic enrichment days, including advice and support on writing personal statements.

Matt Brimson, Head of Sixth Form at West Buckland said, “We are so grateful to the members of our local healthcare trust, veterinary staff and dentists, who are helping us with this initiative and delighted that we are able to invite representation from so many schools across the county.”
