Tormead School’s Sixth Form expedition to Mwandi, Zambia
09 Oct 2013
Nineteen Lower Sixth girls and three staff travelled to Mwandi in Zambia to help the community build mud houses for homeless families.
The team built two houses from scratch, one for Grace, a grandmother who was blind, the other for a couple who were living in a house with 7 other people. It was a humbling and moving experience for all the group, as they had to deal with situations and experiences that were new to them.
They also had the chance to visit an elephant orphanage, the spectacular Victoria Falls and took a game drive. Our current Year 11 will return in their Lower Sixth year to continue the great work being carried out at Mwandi Mission.
