We are very proud of our Year 10 girls, Charlotte and Emmie, who are in New York City this week to speak at the UN Youth Forum held at NASDAQ, on behalf of the charity iamtheCODE, the first African-led global movement to mobilise government, private sector and investors to advance STEAMED (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics, Entrepreneurship, and Design) Education.

Charlotte and Emmie were part of a winning Tormead team at a two-day iamtheCODE Guildford workshop held in June, where the girls worked on developing ways to raise awareness of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals programme.  As a result of their work, the girls were invited to attend and speak at the launch of iamtheCODE at the UN Youth Forum, held in New York’s NASDAQ centre.

iamtheCODE aims to build a generation of 1 million women and girls coders by 2030, by using technology and digital literacy training to tackle the current global STEAMED Skills shortage in marginalised communities. iamtheCODE is one of our school charities this year and we plan to work with them in Nepal.
