2025 A level and BTEC results – Millfield School

Millfield Upper Sixth students are celebrating after receiving their A level and BTEC results.

The top 100 students, comparable to the size of most school sixth form cohorts, achieved 62% A* to A grades at A Level. The year group of 286 students achieved 60% A* to B grades and 79% of BTEC results at Distinction* or Distinction.

Matthew McLachlan is Millfield’s top achiever this year, with an incredible A* A* A* A* grades in Economics, Maths, Further Maths and Physics (Engineering). Matthew is a day student from Glastonbury who joined Millfield in Lower Sixth, and is one of four brothers currently attending Millfield. Matthew has played rugby for the 2nd XV and 3rd XV teams whilst focusing on his academics. He will be attending UCL in September to study Economics. Matthew received Academic Achievement awards in Maths and Further Maths at this year’s Prize Giving. Matthew said, “ When I saw my results this morning it was a massive relief, I really wasn’t expecting to get the grades that I did. My favourite thing about Millfield is the people, I had so much support from all my teachers.”

Connie Cox, from Taunton, achieved the astounding feat of being the highest performer in OCR’s Physical Education A Level exam in the country. She achieved A* A* A* in Physical Education, Psychology and Biology, having joined in Sixth Form. Connie said, “I’m really proud of the result and grateful to the PE department for their incredible support over the past two years”. Connie is an accomplished tennis player, and has represented the Millfield team and won regional singles events. Connie received awards for Academic Commitment in both Physical Education and Psychology at this year’s Prize Giving. She is heading to Durham University to read Natural Sciences.

Tansy Fowler, from Bridgwater, Somerset, who joined Millfield Prep in Year 4, has earned a prestigious choral scholarship to study music at Oxford University’s Oriel College. She achieved A* A* in Music and English Literature and an A in History. Beyond academics, Tansy has been a vital member of the school’s music and drama departments, performing in numerous concerts and productions. She also served as a Prefect and was Head of House last term. Tansy launched Millfield’s new student record label, presenting her debut track “End of Me,” which she both wrote and performed.

Obie Hansell, from Suffolk, is a boarder who joined Millfield in Lower Sixth. Obie achieved A*A* A* in Biology, Chemistry and Maths. She will now study Chemistry at the University of Oxford’s Exeter College. She also undertook Leith’s cookery course. Obie joined Millfield for its range of opportunities and smaller class sizes, and has been a part of the cricket and hockey first teams.

Olivia O’Brien, from Berkshire, joined Millfield for Sixth Form, and is a boarder in Kernick House. She achieved A*A* in Maths and Geography, and A A in Further Maths and Economics. She will now attend the University of Oxford’s Pembroke College to study Economics and Management. Olivia plays netball and is also captain of riding, representing the school in local and national competitions. She has participated in the Millfield Oxbridge programme, which aims to prepare students for Oxbridge entrance through small seminar groups and guidance from Dr. Beatrice Priest, the Head of Academic Culture who oversees the Oxbridge support.

Ella Osborne, from Teignmouth, joined Millfield in Year 9. She achieved A*A*A* in Biology, Chemistry and Physical Education. Her love for learning has seen Ella take part in Maths and Languages Olympiads. Ella is a prefect and achieved the Platinum level Millfield Diploma this year. She has represented the school at regional and national trampolining competitions, received a services to trampolining award and played water polo. Ella regularly attended Combined Cadet Force Award this year. She is passionate about giving back to her local community, and has volunteered at her local library and youth centre. She was awarded with school academic attainment awards for Chemistry and Biology.

Kieran Campbell, from Street, Somerset, achieved A*, A*, A* A in Maths, Further Maths, Computer Science and Physics (Engineering). Kieran was nominated for an academic commitment award this year and is also a member of Millfield’s fencing squad, who have been Overall Public School Champions for twelve years in a row. Kieran is going to UCL, to read Maths.

Ella Foreman, from East Sussex, joined Millfield in Year 10 and is a boarder in Warner House. Ella achieved an A* in Photography and D* D in BTEC National Diploma in Sport. She also received an academic achievement award in Photography at this year’s Prize Giving. Ella is taking a gap year.

Tom Fullard, from Stourbridge, is a boarder in Joan’s Kitchen and joined Millfield in Lower Sixth. He achieved an A* A* in Economics and Geography and an A in Maths. During his time at Millfield, Tom achieved a Duke of Edinburgh Silver award. Tom is heading to UCL, to read Information Management for Business.

Ruby Kollek, from Bangalore, India, joined Millfield in Year 9 in 2020. She achieved A* A* in Business Studies and Politics and an A in French. Ruby takes a keen interest in politics, and chaired a local hustings with representatives from the Conservative, Labour, Liberal Democrat and Green parties, which took place in Millfield’s Meyer Theatre. She received an award for Academic Attainment in Business Studies at this year’s Prize Giving. Ruby is off to Leeds University to read International Business and Finance.

Carolyn Lee, from Taipei, Taiwan, joined Millfield in Year 10 in 2021. She achieved A*A* in Business Studies and Maths and an A in Chemistry. Carolyn in an accomplished dancer, featuring in this year’s Millfield Dance show ‘The Nutcracker’, and was awarded for her Services to Millfield Dance. Carolyn has excelled in academic Olympiads, was a prefect, and received a Platinum level Millfield Diploma and an Academic Commitment award at this year’s Prize Giving. Carolyn is heading to Warwick University to read Chemistry.

Luella Price, from Dartmouth, joined Millfield for Sixth Form. She achieved D* D* D in BTEC National Extended Diploma for Art and Design. Luella was a prefect, and was given an award for Academic Commitment at this year’s Millfield Prize Giving alongside an Academic Achievement award for BTEC Art and Design. Luella is heading to Edinburgh University to study Performance Costume.

Connie Smith, a day student from Wells, joined Millfield in Lower Sixth. She achieved A* A* in English Literature and Geography and an A in History. Connie received an award of Academic Attainment in English at this year’s Prize Giving. During her two years at Millfield, Connie was a keen tennis player, a member of the History and Politics Society and took part in academic discussion groups. Connie is attending Manchester University to read English Literature.

Ruhan Talwar, from Jaipur, India, joined Millfield Prep School in Year 5 in 2016. Today he achieved a D* D* D in BTEC National Extended Diploma for Art and Design. Ruhan received a Platinum level Millfield Diploma at this year’s Prize Giving, where he was also recognised for his academic commitment. He is planning to study Fashion Design at University.

Annabel Chan moved to Millfield from Hong Kong for Year 9. She achieved A*A*A* in Economics, Maths and Psychology, and a B in Further Maths. Annabel regularly competed in national swimming competitions and consistently medalled for her age group in the 50m and 100m butterfly events. She has also been selected into Swim England’s National Development Camp. Annabel has represented her house at inter-house cross country, swimming, athletics and maths events. She is an accomplished pianist and participates in two school chamber groups. At this year’s Prize Giving, Annabel was recognised for her academic commitment and received a Platinum level Millfield Diploma. Annabel is attending Imperial College, London, to study Economics, Finance and Data Science.
