An outstanding effort by the Christ College community in aid of Sports Relief 2012

Sport Relief 2012 kicked off in Christ College on Friday 23rd March and it was a day of fantastic, active fundraising that the whole school enjoyed!

Christ College Houseparent Mr Halpin started proceedings. On Saturday March 17th, he joined a group of past and present rugby stars to sing JLS’s ‘Single For Sport Relief’ before the England v Ireland rugby international at Twickenham. Please click here to see footage of this event.

On Friday 23rd March, pupils were encouraged to assist Sports Relief by donating £1 to ditch their school uniform for the day and come to school in ‘sport’ themed outfits.

Alway House were busy ahead of the day itself by baking ‘sporty cakes’ which were on sale during morning break outside Henry’s Coffee Shop.

Lots more money was raised when many competitors joined in the last event of the day … a sponsored “Fun Mile” … where competitors entered in a variety of ways! Memorable efforts included:

Winner of the Fun Mile – Ed Harries!
Jet in full cricket gear!
Mr Caithness and Elizabeth skipping all of the way!
The Clingfilm Clan who sang all of the way!
Luca, Dafydd and their wheelbarrow!
Peter, Rachel and Lilian in the San’s wheelchair!
The Orchard Boys giving Ned a ride!
Head of Alway House Jos leading a team consisting of 118 girls!
Bentley Halpin shoulder-carrying Sion Edwards all of the way around!
The 7 legged Alway A-Team!
Gus and Ben plus a Mountain Board!
Well done to those who ran backwards too!

The Christ College community rose to the challenge and over £1000 was raised for Sports Relief 2012.
