Another Accolade for Wellington School

Wellington School is absolutely thrilled to have been shortlisted for The Independent Schools Awards for Student Careers. Their outstanding Careers provision, led superbly by Clare Bailey is working harder than ever to ensure that students develop into well-rounded global citizens who are able to make the most of their own skills, in order to contribute positively to humanity and shape the future.
Mrs Bailey commented, “ We pride ourselves on knowing the individual child at Wellington School and this is reflected in our outstanding careers provision from Nursery all the way through until Year 13 – tailoring our approach to each age group and each individual child.
We offer a programme which supports a student with any dream they have whether attending university, joining the armed forces or attaining an apprenticeship. In 2024, 100% of Sixth Form students who applied to university gained a place at their firm or insurance choice university. 100% of 2025 Medicine applicants have offers. 100% of 2025 Veterinary applicants have offers. 100% of students applying to university for 2025 have offers from universities. In addition, we have students who have taken apprenticeships in a range of subject areas including Finance and Accounting, Law, Business, Physiotherapy, Engineering, IT and Agriculture.”
Every year group from Nursery to Year 13 has a full programme of careers activities and events for Green Careers Week, National Apprenticeship Week and National Careers Week, in addition to the careers education built into the curriculum, UCAS Preparation Day, Interview Workshops, Mock interviews & feedback, Specialist societies such as Medicine/Dentistry/Vet Society, Engineering Society, Law Society, Politics Society and many opportunities for real-life exposure to workplace settings.
“The Future Steps programme prepares students for life beyond school and 21st Century Life as they are given the tools, knowledge and skills to help them thrive. We do not have a ‘one size fits all’ approach, but offer each student an individualised programme, supporting them with whatever their aspirations may be,” concluded Clare Bailey.
