Another excellent set of A level results for Sherborne School

09 Nov 2018

This year’s Upper Sixth leavers have secured another impressive crop of A level results with 43% graded A* and A and 74% A*, A or B.

22 boys secured straight A* and As and among the top performers were Douglas Hickling and Archie Macintosh, each with 3A*s and an A; George Clifford and Peter Folkes with 3A*s; Lazar Lukic, Simon Rose and Felix Storer who each achieved 2A*s and 2As; and Nicholas Burt, Toby Grammaticus, Sam MacDonald and Harry Vincent, each with 2A*s and an A.

Armed with these superb grades, our 2018 leavers are now preparing to embark upon a wide range of courses at top universities in the UK and abroad, including Oxford, Cambridge, Durham, Nottingham, Leeds, Imperial, Warwick, KCL, Bath, St Andrews, Edinburgh, Bristol, Exeter, Loughborough and Southampton.

‘I am hugely proud of this year group and the results they have secured’, comments Headmaster Dr Dominic Luckett. `I am equally impressed by the way in which the boys combined an extraordinary range of musical, creative and sporting achievements with academic performance at the highest level – this is a real testament to their tremendous levels of talent and commitment.  I wish all of them every happiness and success.’

Assistant Head (Sixth Form), Tom Rimmer, agrees: ‘The dedication, focus and hard work of these boys is remarkable. Beyond these headlines are a huge number of other individual accomplishments, boys who have all worked incredibly hard and deserve their academic success. We wish all of our leavers the very best, as they head off to their new adventures, and have no doubt that they will go on to have extraordinary successes.’
