Another Fantastic Year for Trinity School’s A Level Results

07 Sep 2017

Pupils from Trinity School, Croydon, had reason to celebrate as A Level results were published across the country.

91% of grades were A*, A or B, an improvement on last year, and 25% of entries were awarded A*, the second best result for the School since A*s were introduced in 2010. 50 students achieved three A grades or better, and 9 students achieved three A*grades or better, out of 141 candidates. Overall, the School achieved a 100% pass rate for the ninth year in row.

Many pupils have secured places at some of the country’s top universities, including Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial College, LSE, Durham, Bristol and Southampton. Some pupils also secured scholarships at some of the top universities in America.

Alasdair Kennedy, the School’s Headmaster, said: “In a year of significant changes to A Level examinations, I am delighted that Trinity students have achieved the second best set of results overall in the last nine years. With the support of their teachers, friends and families, this group of students worked hard, and they deserve this success. The vast majority of our leavers will now move to their chosen universities or colleges, and we hope they will continue to thrive in the next stage of their education”.

Among the success stories were Owen Finnie, who achieved a fantastic 4 A*s and secured a place at Cambridge to study Natural Science. He said: “I’m so happy – the exams were tough so it’s a very big relief!”

Head Boy, Joe Rooke, who is also off to Cambridge to study History, said: “It hasn’t sunk in yet; this is a culmination of two years hard work and it feels like it’s really been worth it.”

Kate Clancy and Stephanie Mitchell were both delighted to secure their places at Edinburgh and Birmingham respectively. Kate said “I’m so surprised but really happy – I’m really looking forward to what’s to come!”
