16 Aug 2013

Sixth Formers at Bishop’s Stortford College have once again achieved excellent A level results, repeating last year’s success in bucking national trends. 20% of all A level grades were awarded the elusive A* grade with 9 students gaining 3 or more A* grades and a total of 16 students gaining 2A* and 1A grade or better.

Four of the College’s Oxbridge candidates have fulfilled their required offers and additionally this year two prestigious places have been secured at a top American University. The vast majority of the whole year group is celebrating achieving the grades needed to take up their chosen courses at university.

A 100% pass rate was achieved, with 54% of all A Levels awarded A*-A, whilst 81% were graded A*-B and 93% A*-C.

College Headmaster Jeremy Gladwin said: “This is a year group of considerable talent in the broadest sense of the word. A year group that has not only achieved well academically, but has also developed their talents in a wide range of other fields, which is an indication of their potential for future success. I am, once again, immensely grateful to my team of dedicated teaching staff, who have gone the extra mile in preparing our students for these examinations. Our exceptional Higher Education and Careers Department have supported and guided our Upper Sixth formers through the minefield of University applications, providing the springboard for our success in gaining so many places at top institutions. Many congratulations to all our pupils and their teachers.”
