Appointment of New Headmaster for Brambletye

26 Mar 2015

The Governors of Brambletye School in East Grinstead, West Sussex (one of the UK’s best-known independent prep schools) have announced the appointment of William Brooks to succeed Nigel Westlake as the new Head in September 2015.

Will (aged 40) is currently Deputy Head at another leading independent school, Port Regis in Dorset.

He was Deputy Head at two other prep schools before he and his family moved to Dorset in 2013.  A graduate of Durham University, he also holds an MBA in Educational Leadership.  At his current school he teaches Maths, coaches a wide range of sports and leads numerous extra-curricular activities.  As Deputy Head, he has overseen all aspects of the school’s pastoral care, and played a major role in securing an outstanding inspection report last year.  Will is a keen sportsman himself and plays cricket and golf in his spare time.

His wife Amelia will also play a leading role at Brambletye, where their three children Billy (9), Saskia (7) and Ivan (5) will become pupils.  Amelia studied Russian and French at Durham University and subsequently took on an executive role for 14 years for the top financial information company, Bloomberg, in London and Moscow before the family moved to Dorset two years ago.  Her interests include tennis, running, riding, natural history and reading.   She has been closely involved with her husband’s previous two schools.

Chairman of Governors Andrew Hynard said “The Brooks came out as clear leaders in an exceptionally strong field of candidates, which included several Heads from top level prep schools.  It was a rigorous and demanding selection process, and we are confident they will do an outstanding job at Brambletye.”

Will Brooks commented “We are absolutely thrilled to be joining the team at Brambletye – a school with an outstanding reputation, and we look forward to meeting as many pupils, parents and staff as possible over the coming weeks and months.
