Bonjour! It’s French Day at The Manor

27 Apr 2015

On Friday 13th February the Year 4 pupils at The Manor Prep School will be celebrating all things French with their very own French Day.
Dressed to impress in the colours of the French flag, the children’s day will start with assembly where the girls will sing and perform to each other in French.
The rest of the day will see the girls enjoying their school day as a French child would; in Maths they will be calculating prices in euros and playing French lotto, in Geography they will be learning about France, during Cookery they will bake the perfect Tartelette aux Pommes and in Art they will focus on the artist Kandinsky (Russian-born but who was made a French citizen in later life) and the girls will do their own version of his ‘Squares with Concentric Circles’.
The day will be peppered with other exciting activities including French party games, and even the whole school gets a chance to enjoy a full ‘Déjeuner à la Française’ with Poulet Breton and Profitéroles at lunchtime – Yum!
Their day will finish off with a French ‘goûter’ (brioche and grenadine) and the children will say “Au revoir” and “Merci” to Madame Anne-Gaelle Spikes for arranging their special day
