BROMSGROVE SCHOOL GCSE RESULTS 2012

23 Aug 2012

After achieving its finest ever A level results last week, Bromsgrove School has now recorded the best GCSE results in its history.

Local top scoring students Dominique Finlay, Frederick Ferguson and Natasha Bateman all secured straight A*s at GCSE, they also achieved a top AS equivalent grade in a chosen subject area. Jagraj Bhandal added an A* at A2 Maths to his perfect GCSE and AS tally.

179 pupils sat over 1,600 GCSEs. Over a third of all grades were at A*, 63.5% at A*-A, and 87.5% at A*-B. Among many pupils opting to stretch themselves by taking AS qualifications as well as GCSEs, 19 GCSE pupils also opted to tackle the Extended Project (marked to A2 standard with appropriate UCAS points) upon which the Exam board commented: ‘This was an outstanding centre with exemplary work, all produced to a very high standard and it was a pleasure to read the projects. Many of the pieces were of undergraduate standard with fluent academic critical writing and strong academic rigour’.

Headmaster Chris Edwards said: “To have recorded our best ever A level and GCSE results in the same year is a champagne moment in our 500 year history.”
