Bromsgrove School pupil named School Sport Magazine’s Sporting Schoolboy of the Year

22 Jan 2013

A pupil from Bromsgrove School has been awarded the School Sport Magazine Sporting Schoolboy of the Year Award 2012.

Tom Banton, aged 14, is an outstanding cricketer who regularly puts in phenomenal performances for the School team, as well as a strong hockey player, having been selected for the JRPC U15 Boys Nottingham Lynx this year.

The award, sponsored this year by equipment specialists Maude Sports, is based on achievements during the 2011/12 school year and is awarded to a pupil who has broken all school sporting records, scored an extraordinary number of goals, tries, runs or points for their school team in whatever sport they play, been the match winner on the way to a national title or overcome great personal odds just to compete and achieve.

Publishing Editor Phil Tusler said of Tom’s win: “The category was especially competitive this year but his win is fully deserved.”

Details of all the award winners are in the new edition of School Sport Magazine published this week, as well as on the magazine’s website www.schoolsportmag.co.uk.
