Bromsgrove School – U15 Netball Triumph
11 Apr 2017
Congratulations to Bromsgrove’s U15 netball team who on 10th March triumphed in a tough match against the Grammar School, Leeds in the Independent Schools’ Final at Redbridge Sports Centre, Ilford. This was the first of two national finals the team have qualified for.
As expected, the match was a very closely fought affair. The game ebbed and flowed, with both sides taking the initiative during the first three quarters but the real drama was saved until the final quarter. Bromsgrove were leading by 6 goals at the start of this period, but determined play from Leeds saw them claw back the deficit and with 90 seconds to go, the score was tied 33-33. Bromsgrove then lost their captain to injury and with the ball in the hands of Leeds, they were favourites to win the title. A great interception, together with slick passing allowed Katie Morrice the space to shoot the winning goal with just 10 seconds left on the clock!
Well done to this outstanding team who are winners of the Independent Schools’ Cup and now National Champions!
