Catering Award for Farlington
20 Nov 2014
The Chairman of Horsham District Council, Brian O’Connell, visited Farlington School on Tuesday 4th November to present Headmistress, Louise Higson, and Catering Manager, Mark Bell, with an Eat Out Eat Well award.
Farlington School’s Catering Team has been given a Silver Award by Eat Out Eat Well in its recent kitchen inspection, narrowly missed gaining the Gold Award. The Eat Out Eat Well Award has been developed to reward food outlets that provide their customers with healthier choices by the Sussex Partnership Scheme in conjunction with the Environmental Health Service.
The level of award is based on a scoring system that takes into account the type of food on offer, cooking methods and how healthy choices are promoted. The award scheme aims to encourage providers to give healthier options to customers through the use of healthier catering practices, increasing fruit and vegetables and decreasing fat, sugar and salt levels.
Louise Higson, Farlington’s Headmistress, says, ‘We are very pleased that the Catering Team, led by Mark Bell for Harrison’s, has been recognised in this way. The food at Farlington is produced to a very high standard and there are always plenty of healthy options for the girls to choose from.”
