CLC PUPILS CELEBRATE FANTASTIC GCSE RESULTS

23 Aug 2019

UC5 (Year 11) students at Cheltenham Ladies’ College are celebrating fantastic GCSE results today, with the top 9/8/A* grades accounting for 72.5% of all results. Of the 129 pupils who took GCSE examinations this year, 25% achieved straight 9/8/A* grades.

Results at the highest possible grade of 9 (classified as higher than an A*) accounted for 45.8% of the total, and pupils have achieved an impressive 89.7% of all results at 9/8/7/A*/A grades.

Remarkably, over half of this year’s cohort (55.8%) have achieved straight 9/8/A* – 7/A grades across all their subjects.

Reflecting the breadth of study at College, students have been awarded GCSEs in 23 different subjects. These include core subjects such as Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Maths, English Language and English Literature, many languages including German, Arabic, Italian, Spanish, Chinese, French, Classical Greek and Russian, and a broad range of other subjects such as History, Classical Civilisation, Geography, Drama, Computing, Art, Food & Nutrition, Music, and Religious Studies.

9/8/A* – 6/5/B grades account for 98.9% of results this year.

Principal Eve Jardine-Young said: ‘This year’s terrific results are a product of the hard work and dedication of all our students and staff, and I am extremely proud of everything they have achieved.’
