FORM 3 PUPILS WERE HOSTED BY CARDIFF UNIVERSITY’S SCHOOL OF PHYSICS & ASTRONOMY TODAY AS THEY FOUND OUT HOW SCIENTISTS AND ENGINEERS ARE USING PHYSICS TO EXPLORE THE COSMOS

Have you ever fancied a trip to the moon? How can we make materials able to withstand the extreme conditions above the Earth’s atmosphere? How can we use physics to make space tourism a reality? Christ College pupils discovered, in this interactive live talk, how scientists and engineers are exploring the cosmos. This inspiring lecture revealed how physics has allowed us to travel into space and how entrepreneurs are opening up space to new generations through space tourism.

The lecture, sponsored by the Institute of Physics, was delivered by Laura Thomas. Laura has an undergraduate degree in Astrophysics from the University of Edinburgh. She has extensive outreach experience having worked for Queen Mary, University of London for the previous six years. Laura is a professional science communicator who visits many schools each year to talk on diverse topics. She is an ESERO Space Ambassador.
