Exceptional GCSE results for Taunton School students

Taunton School students are once again celebrating outstanding examination results, after last week achieving its strongest A-Level and BTEC results in recent years and achieving the same success at GCSE and IGCSE today.

Overall, 53% of the grades received by Taunton School Year 11 students today are graded 9-7.

Individual students who have particularly excelled include Robbie, achieving a complete set of 9s plus an A in GCSE Additional Maths; Evie, receiving a grade 9 for seven subjects and a grade 8 for the remaining two; and Zachary, achieving a grade 9 in six subjects and a grade 8 in three.

Headmaster James Johnson said: “I am delighted that the hard work and dedication of the students and staff have led to such a strong set of results.  As always, behind the headline figures there are many examples of individual triumph.”

Taunton School International (TSI) has also seen its students receive great results in their GCSEs, with 48% of grades being 9-7.

Individual students whose results are particularly notable at Taunton School International include Rumi, a student from Russia who has achieved seven grade 9s, a grade 8 and a grade 7; Evelyn, a Chinese student who has achieved six grade 9s, a grade 7 and a grade 6; and Matilda, a German student who has achieved five grade 9s and two grade 7s.

Camilla Bryden, Taunton School International Head, said: “This is another year of fantastic results at Taunton School International, which makes me so proud of this cohort’s hard work and commitment to achieving top grades in an intensive one-year course that is predominantly in their second language.

“My heartfelt gratitude goes to all the staff at Taunton School International who are unwavering in their support and care of our very special students.  Well done and well-deserved congratulations to each and every one of our international students!”

In all, 163 students have received results today. Notably, 72% of the grades received by our top 100 students are graded 9-7, with almost a quarter being grade 9.

Taunton School provides a curriculum that allows students to take (I)GCSE qualifications from more than 25 subjects, across three different pathways.  This ensures every individual student has a curriculum that is suited to them and on which they can thrive. Taunton School International students have the option to study (I)GCSEs over one or two years, with a Pre-GCSE programme also being available.

Many students will now head to Taunton School Sixth Form to study A-Levels, BTEC, the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme or the International Foundation Year.
