Former HCS Pupil Maxim wins choral scholarship to Queen’s College, Oxford

04 Jul 2019

Congratulations to former Hereford Cathedral School pupil Maxim Fielder, who has been awarded a place at Queen’s College Oxford to read music, along with a choral scholarship.

Maxim left HCS in 2018 after achieving A*s in A-Level Maths and Music and an A in Further Maths. At Queen’s, he will be joining organ scholar Laurence John, who is also a former pupil of the School.

On securing his place at Oxford, Maxim commented: “I’m really excited to be starting at Oxford next year. I’m delighted that my hard work has paid off, and grateful for the huge inspiration and amazing teaching that I received during my time at Hereford Cathedral School.”

Hereford Cathedral School Director of Music Mr David Evans said: “We’re very proud of Maxim, a homegrown musician who was inspirational, focused and a joy to teach. His choral scholarship and offer to read music at Oxford, both very natural conclusions to his outstanding years here in the Music School.”

Maxim is spending this academic year as a music gap assistant at Bilton Grange Preparatory School near Rugby.

We wish him every success for the future.
