Rhys Evans, from Colchester who left the Royal Hospital School in July this year, has been selected to represent Great Britain in the European Sprint Triathlon Championships in Antalya Turkey in June 2013. As a result of his performance in the Under 20’s category at this year’s Worthing Triathlon, Rhys qualified in 5th place in the UK which led to his selection to represent Great Britain.
Rhys was the School swimming captain in his final year and, together with his partner Errol Drummond (pictured), played a big part in the success of the Royal Hospital School paddling team when they won all three junior awards at the 2012 Devizes to Westminster Canoe Marathon.
James Lockwood, Headmaster, said, “The whole School community congratulate Rhys on his achievements and wish him all the very best in Turkey. He is a superb sportsman who shows outstanding commitment – he deserves to do very well indeed!”
