Good News Continues for Prior Park with GCSE results

27 Aug 2013

Prior Park pupils are once again celebrating an outstanding performance at GCSE. With examination boards announcing a harder line on the award of top grades, it has been gratifying to see pupils at the College buck the trend with over 50% of grades being at the highest A* or A level, and 95% of grades being at C or better.

Top performers include Alexander Butt and Liam Delaney, who each secured a full complement of 11 A* grades. Also special mention must be made of Rose James with 10 A*, and Marina Meyjes with 8 A* grades.

Outstanding subjects at GCSE include Mathematics, PE and Theology with well over 50% of grades at the top grade A or better. In Modern Languages, almost 3 in every 5 French students achieved the top grade A or better, whilst in Spanish over 30% of students achieved the top A* grade. Sciences continue to excel with Biology and Physics students achieving over 70% success at grade A or better. And finally our Artists are celebrating a record breaking performance with 67% of results at A or better with almost 1 in 3 achieving the top A*.

Headmaster James Murphy-O’Connor comments: “It is a genuine pleasure to see the reactions of students who are so deserving of these excellent results. Prior is a busy school and so much is asked of the students in all areas of school life. These excellent grades are therefore testament to a year group that truly understands that making the most of your opportunities, contributing your talents and working hard, ultimately do bring the very best of rewards.”
