HERTS COUNTY RECOGNITION FOR NETBALL TALENT

13 May 2013

The talent of four Bishop’s Stortford College netball players has been recognised in recent Herts County Screening trials.

Lucie Sudworth was awarded a County academy place, whilst Elizabeth Francis, Lili Herbert and Charlotte Dadey secured Satellite 1 places.

Both County academy and Satellite 1 are part of the Excel Pathway, which leads towards selection for England. Competition for places at county level is always high. This year, 150 girls competed for 40 places for Satellite 1 and Satellite 2, whilst 88 girls competed for just 16 places for County academy.

Lucie received another accolade recently when she was chosen by members of the England squad to receive the U16 Tournament Player trophy at a tour to Paris with her club, Crosskeys Netball Club. Club manager and Bishop’s Stortford College U14 coach Melanie Boulton said: “Four girls from Bishop’s Stortford College took part in the tour. Hettie Jones-Chapman and Sophie Beaumont’s team came fourth out of 30 teams from around the country, whilst Lucie Sudworth and Estelle Williams’ team were runners up in the International Cup. Lucie was presented with her trophy during a special awards evening.”
