High Hopes for Swimming Success

Farlington girls have high hopes for swimming success at the upcoming County Championships to be held in March.

Isabella Hayes, Year 5, has qualified for all the swimming distances she has entered. She also broke the Atlantis Swimming Club Championship Gala record in backstroke and has the highest seeding for eligible swimmers in her age group for the County Championships this year. Amelia Eltham, Year 6, has achieved a county qualifying time in the 50m freestyle and will be swimming in the event  on 1st March which will be held at K2, Crawley

Gemma Cumber, Year 8, has qualified for 13 events and will swim in a variety of distances in freestyle, medley, backstroke and breaststroke. Lilly Cherriman, also in Year 8, will be competing in the 200m breaststroke. Gaby Eltham, Year 8, will compete in the 100m and 200m breaststroke events having won her age category in the recent regional times chaser event held at the Pavilions by Atlantis on 2nd February.

Sara Whittaker, Director of P.E. and Games at Farlington, says, ‘We are very proud and supportive of the girls’ swimming achievements and we wish them luck for the forthcoming County Championships. They train incredibly hard and put in many hours into land-based and water-work and have great support from their club, Atlantis, and their parents.’
