Homefield Boys Gearing Up for Guinness World Record Attempt

19 Feb 2016

On Monday 22nd February, Homefield students will be taking part in an official Guinness World Record attempt for the most people participating in simultaneous book quizzes.

The attempt is being organised in conjunction with the World Book Day organisation. A total of 250 boys from Years 1-6 will be taking part in the record attempt in the Main School Hall. There will be seven official stewards and two external verifiers, none of are related to the school, overseeing and witnessing the event to ensure that it is carried out in accordance with official Guinness World Record standards.

Given the stringent rules surrounding a world record attempt, a lot of people will be involved on the day. For verification purposes, the record attempt will be filmed on video by Mr Hassanali from the external IT support team. The event itself will be required to be photographed extensively as part of the evidence pack for Guinness World Records. Photography will be carried out by science teacher, Miss Larkin, an experienced photographer who runs the Photography club at the school. The filming will only be used for verification purposes by Guinness World Records and will never be shown publicly. The Quiz Master will be Miss Cook, a member of the senior English teaching team whilst the Attempt Leader will be Mrs Merryman, LRC Manager.

The current record for most people participating in simultaneous book quizzes stands at just under 3,000 and we very much hope that Homefield, by providing 250 of its students, will help to set a new Guinness World Record. Each of the boys participating in the attempt will receive a certificate later on in the week of the event.
