Homefield Prep School – U8s Finish Rugby Season on the Highest of Highs
28 Mar 2017
We recently saw the culmination of the U8s rugby season at the Willington rugby tag tournament and what a finish it was!
The U8 A team, who prior to the tournament had not lost a game all season, kept their proud record intact with three wins and a draw to clinch the trophy. They recorded a trio of impressive victories over both the hosts’ teams, namely the Sharks and the Tigers, as well as Claremont Fan before securing a nail-biting 3-3 draw against a very talented Aberdour side. The delight on the boys faces, and indeed their parents’ faces, was clear to see at the final whistle. The victory was built on an excellent defensive play and great support and handling skills in attack.
The results and scorers were as follows:
v Willington Sharks – Won 4-3, Tries: Rory P (3), David M
v Willington Tigers – Won 5-2, Tries: David M (2), Dron M, Joshua I, Cass C
v Claremont Fan School – Won 6 -5, Tries: Rory P (3), David M (2), Davide P
v Aberdour – Draw 3-3, Dron M, David M, Rory P
It really has been a season to remember for the ‘A’ team and one that has seen their teamwork and skillsets progress significantly. The boys will now turn their attentions to Cricket in preparation for the Summer term. Just some of the skills to learn will be bowling with a straight arm, selecting the bad deliveries to hit with the bat and sharp fielding and catching.
