Internationally acclaimed pianist Joseph Moog holds Millfield masterclass
06 Jun 2017
Music pupils were treated to a masterclass with the celebrated pianist Joseph Moog. The German musician has been the recipient of the International Classical Music Award and was nominated for a Grammy last year.
Mr Moog stayed on after his performance in the Johnson Hall the previous evening as part of the International Concert Series to give some one-to-one tuition to a group of music pupils from across the school. The pianist listened to each pupil’s performances, before working individually on particular parts of their pieces, offering assistance and advice from his own experience of playing in international concert halls.
Millfield’s Director of Music, Matthew Cook, commented: “For our pupils to have the opportunity to attend and participate in a masterclass with one of the world’s finest pianists has been invaluable to their learning and development as musicians. We’re very grateful to Joseph for taking the time to extend his visit after his performance at the International Concert Series; an incredibly modest and inspirational role model to all of our musicians.”
The International Concert Series, which is open to all, welcomes acclaimed musicans from all around the world every year. The next concert series will begin again in Autumn 2017.
